Camellia Japonica - Japanese Rose

A Camellia is a must-have for any garden, especially in spring. The Camellia Japonica is better known as the Japanese rose. The plant originates from China, Japan and Vietnam, where it grows high in the mountains. The plant is very hardy and retains its leaves in winter, making it an ideal plant for the European climate. However, its best feature is its flowers. The Camellia Japonica is an early bloomer, because its beautiful red flowers grow from February to May.

Care
A Camellia prefers a slightly acidic, preferably humus-rich soil. During the summer it is important to keep the soil around the plant well moist. The plant prefers to be in partial shade. Eventually the plant will grow into a large shrub, but several plants can also be placed together to form one large shrub. Furthermore, the Camellia does not grow quickly, usually about 15-20 cm per year. It is therefore not necessary to prune the plant regularly, especially in the beginning. It is important to remove dead branches and spent flowers.

The plant has a height of 60-70cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 19cm.
