Acer palmatum 'Beni Maiko' - Japanese maple

This beautiful Acer Beni Maiko has a spherical growth habit with deeply incised leaves. This maple actually changes colour all year round, in the spring fiery red to red-pink leaves, towards summer the leaves change colour to blue-green with red veins and in the autumn the maple becomes the red colour again. This maple is also very suitable for a compact garden, because it is a slow grower. If the maple does become too large, prune it back in March.

Care
Japanese maples are best planted from March to early November. During this period the soil is warm and the plants can root well. Japanese maples are strong plants, but in a windy location the leaves can be damaged. So place the Acer in a sheltered spot. The plant prefers a spot in partial shade, preferably not too much direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can cause the roots to dry out, which can lead to defoliation and burning. A Japanese maple is not evergreen, which means it loses its leaves in winter. However, the plant is very hardy to -20°C and will sprout beautiful new leaves in March.

Format
The plant has a height of 60-70cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 19cm.
