Arbutus Unedo - Set of 6 - Strawberry Tree

Arbutus unedo is also called 'strawberry tree' because of the fruits on the tree, which have a certain resemblance to strawberries. These fruits are edible but unfortunately do not ripen in every climate, so they usually do not taste good. This tree grows into a medium-sized tree with a short, reddish-brown trunk and a densely overgrown crown. The strawberry tree is a special colorful tree for every garden. In the fall and early winter, panicles with white to light pink flowers develop. They can be followed by yellow and red fruits that look a bit like strawberries. This ornamental tree is often found in the south of Europe. The strawberry tree is the national tree of Italy because of its shiny green leaves, white flowers and red fruits. These are colors that are reminiscent of the Italian flag.

Care
The Arbutus needs sufficient water. Do not let the soil dry out too much, but make sure that the water can drain away. The strawberry tree prefers a spot in the sun or partial shade. The tree can tolerate wind relatively well. Be careful of low temperatures, this plant is not completely winter hardy and needs protection during cold periods. Arbutus can grow between 3 and 5 meters high in our climate. The tree does not need to be pruned. Moreover, this plant is evergreen. The fruits need a ripening time of about twelve months, which makes it a colorful tree at any time of the year!

Format
The plants have a height of 25-40cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 9cm.
