The Bougainvillea needs sunny weather to bloom beautifully. However, if the plant is in full sun, give it plenty of water during the warm summer months, even every day during the hottest period. Always make sure that the water can drain through holes in the bottom of the pot, as the plant does not like wet feet. This is of course not necessary in the open ground, but the disadvantage is that it is difficult to bring the plant indoors in winter. This is necessary to guarantee flowering again next year, as the Bougainvillea is not winter hardy.
