The plant is native to China, Japan and Vietnam, where it grows high in the mountains. The Camellia Japonica is an early bloomer, as the beautiful pink flowers bloom from February to May.

Care
A Camellia prefers a slightly acidic, preferably humus-rich soil. During the summer it is important to keep the soil around the plant well moist. The plant prefers to be in partial shade. Eventually the plant will grow into a large shrub, but several plants can also be placed together to form one large shrub. Furthermore, the Camellia does not grow quickly, usually about 15-20cm per year. Therefore, especially in the beginning, it is not necessary to prune the plant regularly. It is important to remove dead branches and spent flowers.
