Caryota mitis XXL - Vine palm

The Caryota Mitis is also known as the fishtail palm or fin palm. It gets its name from its unique leaves that resemble fish tails. These special leaves give it a very different appearance than other palm trees, which makes it a unique asset. The fishtail palm is found worldwide in the tropics, where it can grow up to 12 meters high! Don't worry, the plant is a slow grower and will not easily reach this height in your home. The Caryota Mitis does well in dark places, making it particularly suitable for offices.

Care
Like other palms, the Caryota Mitis likes to be in consistently moist soil. It is important that no layer of water forms at the bottom of the pot. This can cause root rot. It is therefore best to water the plant once every five days in the summer and once every two weeks in the winter. The Caryota does well in a shady spot, but the plant needs light. If the palm receives too little light, growth can stagnate.
