Cyperus alternifolius is a type of grass that originally comes from the tropical swamps of Africa. The plant has mainly gained fame because the ancient Egyptians made paper from it thousands of years ago. Nowadays the plant is only used as decoration in houses. You can still find the Cyperus in large swamps around rivers and other swamps in the area. In their natural environment the plant can grow considerably and suffocate other plants. However, this will not happen so quickly in the living room or in the garden. It is a beautiful type of grass that is also easy to care for!

Care
The Cyperus originates from a tropical swamp. With this origin in mind, you should also take care of the plant. Keep the Cyperus as wet as possible without completely submerging the soil, because it prefers not to stand with its stems completely in the water. The desired temperature for the Cyperus is important: the plant prefers a temperature above 15 degrees. If you have the Cyperus outside, for example on the edge of a pond, it is best to bring it inside in the winter. Furthermore, the Cyperus needs a lot of light, it survives well even in full sun. Finally, the plant is not poisonous to pets and people! Please note that cats may be tempted to play with the plant, which can break the rather fragile stems.

The plants have a height of 40-50cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 14cm.
