Dahlia tubers (dahlia bulbs) can be planted in late spring, but beware of (late) night frosts: dahlias are sensitive to frost. Ideally, plant the tubers only after the risk of frost has passed. Dig a spacious planting hole, loosen the soil well, and mix in some fresh potting soil if necessary. Carefully place the tuber in the hole and cover it with about 3–5 cm of soil. Maintain a planting distance of 30–60 cm, depending on the desired filling and air circulation. Water immediately after planting. Dahlias flower most profusely in a sunny location. After flowering (and after the first night frost), the tubers can be lifted and stored in a frost-free, dry place so you can enjoy them for years.
