Ficus Ginseng grows in the beautiful south of China and Malaysia. Ginseng is the Chinese word for 'root', which refers to the root stump of the plant. It takes years to form the whimsical nature of this root stump. Then the small-leaved ficus is grafted onto the root stump. With a lot of patience, the plant is pruned, which creates the bonsai-like shape. The genus Ficus belongs to the family of mulberry plants (Moraceae) and is one of the most popular types of Bonsai for beginners.
Care
Ficus Ginseng (also called Ficus Microcarpa Ginseng) requires a light location without bright sunlight. The lighter the plant is, the more water it needs. So water regularly, never let the pot bulb dry out. In the summer, the plant can also be outside for a while, provided the temperature does not drop below 12-15 degrees Celsius. Yellow, brown or ugly leaves can be removed. If you want to prune the plant, it is best to do this in the fall. To give the plant some extra vitality, it can be fed with Bonsai food. Please note: In the beginning, the Bonsai may lose leaves, this is not harmful. The plant needs some time to 'get used' to its new location, so do not move it too often. New leaves will grow naturally. Always provide sufficient light and water in the beginning.
