Ficus lyrata

The Ficus Lyrata has been one of the most popular houseplants for decades. It's easily recognizable by its large leaves. Because the leaves have a narrow base and a wider tip, it's also called the violin plant. When dried, the leaves can be used to wrap cigars. This also explains the plant's second nickname: the tobacco plant. The Ficus Lyrata originates from the African rainforests, where it can grow up to 20 meters tall with leaves 50 cm across. Doesn't that sound like music to your ears?!

Dog Care
Ficus Lyrata is a true sun worshipper. They love a spot in front of the window, the more (sun)light the better. Furthermore, when watering, it is better not to give too much water at once. It is best to keep the soil slightly moist. It is not a problem if the soil dries out a little. In addition, the pansy plant likes high humidity, so it is advisable to water the plant occasionally. Do choose a spot out of the reach of children and pets, because the leaves are slightly poisonous and cause bumps on the skin if swallowed. Eventually, Ficus Lyrata can grow to a height of more than 3 meters indoors!
