Miscanthus sinensis Red Chief - Winter Hardy Ornamental Grass

The Miscanthus 'Red Chief' is one of the many Miscanthus grass species. The grass 'Red Chief' gets narrow, elegant green leaves that turn brown in the fall. Furthermore, the Red Chief blooms with red plumes that protrude above the plant. During the winter season, the plumes change color to silver white. This makes the Miscanthus the most colorful grass species.

Care
Miscanthus 'Red Chief' can be planted in any good garden soil. Furthermore, the care is not very difficult, the grass prefers a sunny spot and well-drained soil. It is advisable to prune the grass in March, so that it grows back nicely. The flowering period of the grass is from September to October. Eventually, the Miscanthus 'Red Chief' can grow up to 200cm high! Furthermore, the Miscanthus is not poisonous to animals.
