Musa Basjoo - Banana plant

The Musa Basjoo, also known as the winter-hardy garden banana, originally comes from southern China. It is the most winter-hardy banana plant that exists. The plant is winter-hardy, but in case of heavy frost the plant will die back to the stem or even to the ground. Fortunately, the plant grows back quickly in the spring. The Musa Basjoo is a great garden banana for in the open ground, but can also be kept in a tub or on the terrace. After only 3 years, the tree can flower and produce fruit. In ideal conditions, the garden banana can reach heights of up to about 250 cm.

Dog Care
The plant grows best in a sunny spot in a nutrient-rich, well-drained soil. The Musa Basjoo needs a lot of water during the summer months from April to September. The more water the plant gets, the faster it grows. This can be up to 180 cm per year under the right conditions! In winter, the top of the plant dies off without protection, in spring it comes back and starts its growth spurt again. If the plants are in a pot, they can also be brought inside in winter and continue to grow all winter. Pruning Musa Basjoo is not necessary, but is always allowed.

Format
Upon delivery, the plants have a height of 55 to 70 cm (measured incl. pot). The plants are supplied in pots with a diameter of 21cm.
