Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal' - Fingergrass

Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal' is a beautiful, relatively slow growing ornamental grass with a straight upright growth. From June to August the plant blooms with beautiful white to light pink fluffy flower spikes. The plant is deciduous, so it will drop its leaves at the end of autumn/beginning of winter. In the spring the beautiful grey-green to blue-grey leaves will reappear, which in the autumn will change colour to an autumnal red-brown. This ornamental grass can grow up to 125 to 150 cm high, but it takes a number of years to do so. The plant is suitable as a solitary, but looks best in groups.

Dog Care
Panicum Heavy Metal prefers a sunny spot. The plant does well in any soil that is not wet, but prefers dry to moist, slightly acidic soil. In drier seasons it is important to give the plant sufficient water. It is advisable to prune the plant back to 10-20 cm above the ground every year in March. This keeps the ornamental grass healthy and you will soon see new shoots.

Format
The plant has a height of 40-60cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 23cm.
