Pomegranates from your own garden? That is possible with the Punica Granatum shrub! This special shrub has been used for centuries as an ornamental plant and of course for the delicious edible fruits. The Punica Granatum starts as a shrub and grows into a small tree with a round crown. The crown is dense and somewhat tangled with light brown twigs with a sharp top (branch thorns). The shiny green leaves turn a beautiful brown-yellow in the fall. In addition to delicious fruits, this shrub has a beautiful bloom with orange-red flowers. These are followed by the delicious edible fruits. The large yellow-red fruits contain countless seeds in a sweet, fleshy pulp and are full of vitamins and minerals.
Care
The Punica Granatum is not difficult to care for, but it does need a good summer to be able to ripen in our climate. Due to its limited winter hardiness (-8C), this tree can only be used as a tub plant in gardens, patios and courtyards in northwestern Europe. A pomegranate tree can grow in any fertile, moist but well-drained soil. The tree likes a spot in full sun. If the tree is planted in the garden, it is advisable to protect it from the cold during severe frost. Eventually, the pomegranate plant can grow up to 200-300cm high! Furthermore, the plant is not poisonous.
Format
The plants have a height of 25-40cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 9cm.
