Product Description

The Stipa tenuissima, or Spanish grass, is a completely hardy, beautiful grass species with very fine leaves. The plant has a rich inflorescence of very fine flower stems up to about 50 cm high, which wave beautifully in the wind. Stipa grows beautiful light yellow-green leaves, covered with fluffy plumes of silver-green flowers, growing to blond yellow. This versatile grass is ideal for a sunny garden, large ornamental pot or perennial border. The waving plumes give a rural and calming effect in a light breeze. The plant also fits perfectly in a garden with an oriental theme.

Care
Grow Stipa in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. It is recommended to prune Stipa back to about 20 cm above the ground in the spring. The grasses will then quickly grow back and form new 'hairs'. It is also possible to carefully comb through the grass tufts with your fingers in the spring, wearing garden gloves, to loosen the dead leaves from the plant. This ornamental grass remains green in the winter and can withstand temperatures down to -15 degrees.

The plants have a height of 20-30cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 9cm.
