Strelitzia Reginea - Bird of Paradise Flower - With flower

The Strelitzia Reginea, also known as the Bird of Paradise plant, provides a tropical atmosphere in any room. The plant originates from South Africa, but can now be found worldwide. The Strelitzia is suitable for both indoors and outdoors, provided it goes inside when the temperature drops below 10 degrees. The Bird of Paradise plant is a huge eye-catcher due to its large pointed leaves and beautiful orange and blue ornamental flowers. It takes about 5 years for the Strelitzia to bloom, and the flowering period is often from May to October. This Strelitzia is delivered already flowering with at least 2 flowers. After the flowering period, it can take up to 12 months before it blooms again. The adult height of the Bird of Paradise plant in the house is about 150 cm.

Care
The Bird of Paradise plant prefers a location with lots of light. This means that the plant needs a lot of water (pay attention to drainage to prevent root rot). Water less in the winter, let the soil dry out regularly. In the spring and summer, the plant can also be placed on the terrace. The plant is not winter hardy and should therefore be brought back inside in October at the latest.

Format
The plant has a height of 80-100cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 27cm.
