The Trachycarpus Fortunei is one of the most popular palm species in Northern Europe. The reason for this is mainly that this palm is best kept under European weather conditions. The palm survives even at 18 degrees of frost. The Trachycarpus owes its name to the biologist Robert Fortune and is originally from Northern China. Here the palm grows on the walls of the Himalayas, where snow and extreme cold are not uncommon. The Trachycarpus Fortunei is also a fast grower and can grow about 25 cm of stem per year after a few years in the open ground.
Care
Trachycarpus Fortunei is easy to care for and can be kept in the ground or in a pot. This palm needs a sunny spot and very well-drained soil. The palm grows best in the open ground. Due to its high winter hardiness and strong leaves, the plant can also be left outside in winter. When you place this palm in a pot, make sure it is a large, deep pot. During hot summers we recommend regular watering, depending on how moist the soil is. As with any palm, the oldest brown leaves should be cut as close to the trunk as possible. This has no further effect on the palm.
Format
The plants have a height of 35-45cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 15cm.
