Europe's best-known palm tree, Trachycarpus fortunei, originates in Northern China, where harsh winters and low temperatures are not uncommon. This makes the Palm winter hardy and can survive winters with 18 degrees of frost. The Trachycarpus Fortunei is easy to maintain and can be kept in the open ground or in a pot. This palm needs a sunny position and very well-drained soil.

Due to its high winter hardiness and strong leaves, the plant can also be left outside in winter. When you place this palm in a pot, make sure it is a large, deep pot. During hot summers we recommend regular watering, depending on how moist the soil is. As with any palm, the oldest brown leaves should be cut as close to the trunk as possible. This has no further effect on the palm.

Format
