The Vaccinium macrocarpon is a beautiful, small and evergreen shrub from which the well-known cranberries grow. Cranberries are small, round, red fruits that are super healthy. Raw they are quite sour, but when processed in compote or jam they are delicious to eat. The plant is very hardy and beautiful in large pots on the balcony or terrace. The Cranberry blooms in May or June with white flowers. The berries follow the flowers. The Cranberries can be harvested and eaten around August.
Care
Preferably plant cranberries in an acidic soil that is well moist. Drought is disastrous for the cranberry, causing the soil to occasionally even become flooded. Cranberries originally grew on wet peatlands, swamps and in dune areas. The plant is also resistant to salty climates. When planting the Vaccinium in the garden, it is best to plant it at a distance of 10x10 cm. Then the plants become a good ground cover and weeds have little chance to grow. Cranberries require very little maintenance. The plant does not need additional fertilization. Every few years you can prune the plants back in March. This promotes growth and ensures a good harvest.
Format
The plants have a height of 10-20cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 9cm.
